I blogged about Google Documents some time ago. It seems the not-so-popular ZOHO is giving Google a run for its money. The latest from Google is some conspiracy of sorts about a to-do list manager that initially appeared on its blog, but later disappeared. Phew, what is the advertisement giant up to? Well, at least they are hiring, so who knows? Maybe some people are due to leave.
ZOHO is an online office, word processor and more. The company has been pulling it’s weight and has an array of applications that do not just mirror Google Docs, but sort of covers it with their shadow. As I mentioned in that my post, Google’s application was far from excellent for online editing of documents. Also some bugs and other things that make it difficult to use have definitely slowed it down since inception.
One look at the main page in ZOHO and one will see the extent to which this almost unknown company is challenging Google’s supremacy. ZOHO has, among other features
ZOHO Write (Google’s document)
ZOHO Sheet (Google’s spreadsheet)
ZOHO Show (Google’s presentation)
ZOHO Notebook (Google’s notebook)
ZOHO Wiki (No Google equivalent)
ZOHO Planner (Google still thinking about a to-do package)
ZOHO Chat (Gtalk)
ZOHO Email (Gmail)
ZOHO Projects (Google Apps Sites)
ZOHO Invoice (No Google equivalent)
ZOHO Meeting (No Google equivalent)
ZOHO Creator (Google spreadsheet forms application is close). Watch video here
ZOHO DB and Reports (online database, no Google equivalent)
ZOHO People (online meeting, erecruitment and stuff like that;no answer from Google)
Business (An online business diary, Hello google)
ZOHO CRM ( Sales, Marketing, Customer Support & Service and Inventory Management in a single business system)
I have not used many of the tools, but I can comfortably say that if one is looking for additional utility for online productivity, ZOHO is the place to go. Google is making serious money, but It seems the heat is on them from ZOHO especially in the office/online productivity suite.
