Since the boom of the internet and the advent of opensource software, browsers have been in a race against time. Mozilla Firefox is a web browser that has revolutionized the way we work and the way we see the world. The browser in itself is a window on the world;Firefox greases the hinges and cleans the glass! It makes me able to function, and even to post on two blogs despite my busy schedule.
Below is a list of some features that make Firefox a productivity must-have, especially for professionals and busy people. This list is in no way exhaustive, as I am still discovering Firefox and the developers are still working hard.
Improved Tabbed Browsing
Spell Checking
Search suggestions
Session restore
Web feeds RSS
Live titles
Live bookmarks
Integrated search
Pop-up blocker
Internet explorer has been beaten and battered for security lapses in the past, but as we know security is the single most vulnerable aspect of software. However, in the security department, Firefox is ahead in the game. security features include:
Phishing protection
Open source, more secure
Automated update
Protection from spyware
Clear private data
As if all these are nothing, the biggest attraction to firefox is its adaptability with firefox add-ons. these are pieces of code, written by developers that one can add to firefox to perform some tasks better, or differently. The list of add-ons is a long one and is beyond the scope of this post. However, in the next few days, I will start a series on the Firefox extensions. Stay tuned.

I tried firefox for two weeks and just couldn’t get used to it.
Grace and Peace,

Ed, Firefox is indeed the bomb. If it was difficult for you, maybe you should try the extension that simulates IE. It opens a new tab as IE if you request. It employs an IE rendering engine to do that. getting used to it is acyually like getting used to a luxury car (Firefox), after biking (Internet Explorer) for 17 years! Why don’t you read my next few articles on Firefox extensions, and then try it again. I will put up the series soon.
